Buy Local Plan Backed By MP

Drive By Websites hit the headlines this week

Buy Local Plan Backed By MP

New online business directory to be launched

The woman behind plans for two new websites aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses in the area has won support from South Holland and The Deepings MP, John Hayes.

Christine Grocock, of Drive By Websites in Spalding, hopes to launch her firm's new directory listing independent traders in the South Holland, Bourne and Market Deeping areas within the next four weeks.

Another website where traders can sell their products and services online, then use their businesses as collection points for customers, is set to go live in the next three months.

Mrs Grocock discussed her ideas for www.spaldingbusinessdirectory.co.uk and www.spaldingmarketplace.co.uk in a one-hour meeting with Mr John Hayes on Friday.

She said: "It was a pleasure meeting Mr Hayes to discuss my company's proposals to marry up offline with online shopping and we were pleased to see how receptive he was to our plans."

Mr Hayes said: "The challenges are many, but in particular are from out-of-town shopping, online shopping and supermarkets which are challenging the way people interface with goods and services.

"Christine is suggesting a way of at least maximising the opportunities provided by one of these challenges to find a way of giving small and medium-sized businesses the chance through computers of advertising their wares."
