Our Demi - Winner of Apprentice of the Year Award 2013

Wednesday this week, we attended Springfields Events Centre, Spalding for the South Holland Business Awards & Enterprise Day 2013 event.

The Awards - hosted by Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce - aim to support local businesses in recognising outstanding achievements in the area and provide a platform to showcase the very best of South Holland's businesses.

As a token of our appreciation for all the hard word that Demi Blackbourn - our Creative Web Design Apprentice - has done on behalf of Drive By Websites over the past 16 months or so, we nominated her for the award category "Apprentice of the Year 2013" This Award was sponsored by Boston College.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Demi won.  For those lucky enough to have met her will agree with our sentiments when we sing her praises in respect of her design and photographic skills, attention to detail, warm personality and enthusiasm.

This is a website we recently designed and developed on behalf of  the owners of The Retreat At The Blue Lagoon utilising the unique "Drive By Websites" solution to affordable websites. The Retreat comprises a decidedly contemporary villa inspired by the landscape. The sloping site leading down to the lake has been used to maximum advantage.

Opened in 2013, The Retreat is situated at the end of a quiet unpaved road just 10 minutes inland from Hikkaduwa town by tuk tuk (three-wheeler).


 
The glassy lagoon - literally on the doorstep – hosts abundant and  extraordinary wildlife with parakeets, kingfishers, cormorants, sea eagles and mynah birds that roost in the jungle bordering the lagoon.

Monitors, iguanas, chipmonks and leaf monkeys visit the garden by day; while fruit bats fill the skies at dusk.
